Thermo 5014i - Beta Attenuation Monitor
A Beta Attenuation Monitor (BAM) the 5014i can measure PM10, PM2.5 providing almost real time output unlike other BAM monitors which only measure once per hour. In addition the filter tapes only require changing at six month intervals compared to others which require a change at 2 months. BAM technology is relatively simple and is able to provide measurements of PM for those with limited capital budgets, however these instruments typically have higher running costs than other methods over time.
